What we collect
When you place an order we collect your name, email address, delivery address, telephone number if you provide one, and the contents of your order.
When you subscribe to Field Notes we collect your email address, the date of your subscription, the page you subscribed from, and the wording of the consent shown to you at that moment.
Liked palettes are stored on your own device. They are not sent to us and are not linked to your identity.
Why we collect it
Order information is used to take payment, produce and ship your order, send order confirmation, shipping and tracking messages, and answer questions about your order.
Field Notes subscriptions are used only to send occasional emails about new archive entries, collections, Field Notes, and objects from the shop.
Transactional email is separate from marketing
Giving us an email address to place an order, receive a confirmation, receive shipping or tracking updates, or manage an order does not subscribe you to marketing.
We never add a customer to the Field Notes audience because they made a purchase. Marketing email is sent only to people who have made a separate, affirmative opt-in that was not pre-selected for them.
Service providers
Mailchimp (Intuit Mailchimp) delivers Bird Swatch marketing email and holds the Field Notes audience.
Stripe processes payments. Bird Swatch does not receive or store your full card details.
Printify and its print partners produce and ship the objects sold in the shop, and receive the delivery details needed to do so.
Retention
Order records are kept for as long as needed to fulfil the order and to meet accounting and tax obligations.
Marketing consent records are kept while you remain subscribed and afterwards as evidence that consent was given and later withdrawn.
Unsubscribing and withdrawing consent
Every Bird Swatch marketing email contains an unsubscribe link managed by Mailchimp. Unsubscribing stops marketing email immediately.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop order confirmations, shipping notices or other messages that are necessary to complete a purchase you have made.
Cookies and analytics
Bird Swatch does not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels or cross-site marketing scripts.
Storage used by the site is limited to what the site needs to work: your cart, your liked palettes, and administrator sign-in.
