Green Heron

The male Green Heron has a deep blue-green to nearly black crown and back, with slate-blue wings that can show subtle green iridescence in good light. A rich chestnut-russet neck and breast provide the strongest contrast, fading into smoky gray underparts, with a narrow pale stripe along the throat.
